James A. DeBardelaben, Ph.D.

Dr. James A. DeBardelaben is the president and CEO of IvySys Technologies, with over 25 years of experience providing advanced technology solutions and services to the defense and intelligence communities. He founded the boutique software company to deliver exceptional software solutions for big data, social network analysis, analytic workflow modernization, and interoperability to DoD, intelligence community, and homeland security customers. Under his strategic direction and oversight, IvySys has become a leader in using innovative advanced analytics capabilities to provide automated solutions for critical intelligence analysis and threat awareness challenges.
Prior to founding IvySys, James was the program manager for Special Operations ISR programs at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). While at APL, James served as a subject matter expert to the DARPA Advanced Technology Office and Naval Special Warfare Sea Eagle program. As the APL project manager for the NAVSEA Silent Hammer Limited Objective Experiment, he led the Special Operations Land Products Team that developed unattended ground sensors; an unattended land mesh network for high data rate, long-range persistent communications; and custom software applications to enhance special operations forces’ situational awareness.
James serves on the Advisory Board of the Georgia Tech School of Electrical and Computer Engineering and is a recipient of the Georgia Tech Council of Outstanding Young Engineering Alumni Award. He earned a Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from Georgia Tech, an M.S.E in computer engineering from Princeton University, and a Sc.B. in electrical engineering with honors from Brown University. He has authored over twenty technical journal and conference papers in signal processing, optimization, wireless networking, embedded system design, and rapid system prototyping.
